Sandra Lawson is a rabbi in training at the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College a member of Be'chol Lashon's Speaker's Bureau. She realized that if she wanted to effect real change and bring more attention to the racial and ethnic diversity in the Jewish community, she needed to have the title rabbi. She made a conscious decision to unite all of her identities - black, Jewish and queer - and uses her identities as a bridge builder. She believes Judaism is wonderful, as a self identified social media nerd, she uses technology to reach out to people in innovative ways. Check out her weekly Torah portion on Snapchat (SandraJLawson). Additional identities include: personal trainer, food activist, weightlifter, vegan, Army vet, Sci Fi geek, guitar and ukulele player... and mostly she wants to make the world a better place.
